No fault insurance in Minnesota:

I hear people say to me when they're in an accident, "Since Minnesota is a no fault state, the accident won't affect my rates."

No Fault in Minnesota pertains only to medical. This is under the PIP portion of your policy. Everyone has 20 thousand in medical for their injuries from an accident with a motor vehicle under their policy. You can increase this coverage if you would like.

If you are injured in an accident, your injuries will be paid out under YOUR policy. This is where the term No Fault comes in. It doesn't matter who's vehicle you are in, who's fault the accident is. The injuries ALWAYS go back to your own policy.
